Verifi S6000 Biometric Smart Safe
Verifi has been around for over a decade now and never really expanded beyond offering just a few biometric safes. There most well known for their FBI certified fingerprint scanner and are the only ones in the entire safe industry to use a scanner of this quality. Overall, their safes security is decent and I do recommend them. In this review, I will explain why the Verifi S6000 Biometric Smart Safe is the best biometric available.
Lock – Verifi S6000 Biometric Smart Safe
First and most important for any safe is the lock. Verifi uses a biometric fingerprint scanner that is the only FBI certified fingerprint sensor on any gun safe. The large-area capacitive TouchChip fingerprint sensor captures high-resolution fingerprint images for super quick access to firearms in an emergency. Next, it automatically performs a set of thorough self-diagnostic tests on the batteries, fingerprint sensor, and safe lock mechanisms every 24 hours and after every use. It has an LCD display on the front that shows the battery percentage. Overall, this is a very advanced locking mechanism.
Security – Verifi S6000 Biometric Smart Safe
The Verifi S6000 Biometric Smart Safe doesn’t just have a good lock, it’s also built very strong. It’s CA DOJ approved as a firearm safety device. This means it has passed basic security testing and is authorized for the use of storing firearms in California. The door is built with 12 gauge steel and the body is built with 14 gauge steel which is much thicker than the usual 16 gauge on competing safes. Finally, two 3/4″ motorized locking bolts secure the door. This safe has an auto close feature that automatically locks the safes as soon as you close it. All things considered, this is a very secure handgun safe.
Override Keys
The batteries are located on the inside so if you do not change them before it dies, you will need to use the override key. They didn’t just use any override key though, they used a Pagoda style lock. This style of key lock is significantly more secure than the usual tubular override key.
Style and Function
Verifi handgun safes are finished in a smooth textured black paint. This paint is much better than the powder coat black found on most imported handgun safes. The interior is lined with felt on all sides to prevent scratches to your items. Finally, an interior LED light brightens up the interior after the door opens.
Warranty
Verifi product come with a 1 year warranty. I have not been able to find any information on what that warranty actually covers. I also can not confirm if they will send someone out to your home to fix the safe or if you must ship it to them for repair. In my experience, when little information is provided, the warranty is usually not very good.
The Bottom Line
Would I buy the Verifi S6000 Biometric Smart Safe to store my handguns? Yes, I definitely would. With thick steel construction, an FBI certified biometric scanner and auto-close feature, this is the best biometric handgun safe I have seen so far.
With that said, I still think there is a safe even better. The Stealth ShadowVault is my top recommendation for any handgun safe. The reasons I like it better are that it has a UL approved S&G high security electronic lock, 3/16″ steel door, 10 gauge steel body, two hard plates and steel hooks. Personally, I would ditch the biometrics and go with the most secure pistol safe available.
