Vault Pro is based out of California and makes all of their products right here in the USA with all American parts. They use very high quality materials in the locks, fire insulation material, interiors and pay attention to the quality on every single safe. While they don’t test their safes with independent agencies like UL or ETL, I can verify for you that these safes not only would pass the tests but actually far exceed them. In this Vault Pro AE-760 American Eagle 60 Gun Safe Review I will help you understand why it is one of the absolute best gun safes in its category.

Lock – Vault Pro AE-760 American Eagle 60 Gun Safe

S&G UL Rated High Security Mechanical Lock

First and always most important is the lock. Included in the price is the S&G UL Type 2 Mechanical Lock. This is one of only two mechanical locks I recommend as it is high quality, reliable and known for longevity. It uses a three number combination that rotates into the lock body on the inside of the safe. This lock is designed to last for decades and features over 1 million possible combinations.

S&G 6120 UL Rated High Security Electronic Lock

The next lock option available is the S&G 6120 UL approved high security electronic lock. This is an excellent quality lock made by the oldest lock company in the United States. They have a premier reputation and make the highest quality locks. UL Approved type 1 is the highest security rating available and I highly recommend this lock.

This lock features a 6 digit electronic code that is easy to program to your own custom combination. In addition, the lock opens 10,000+ times on just one battery. Finally, there are over 1 million possible combinations on this lock.

If all that is not enough, S&G’s high-security electronic locks are proven to withstand military-level EMP attacks. S&G tested this lock using the U.S. military’s highest EMP impact standard. An independent lab applied a radiant transient electromagnetic field on this keypad following the Military Standard MIL-STD461F, Method RS105 at 50 kV/m peak exposure. At the end of the testing series the S&G locks were still fully functional.

Hard Plate and Re-Locker

This lock is also protected by both a hard plate and two internal spring-loaded re-lockers. The Hard plate is a piece of hardened steel that absolutely destroys drill bits. The internal re-locker fires if the lock is punched through securing the bolts in place. Vault Pro uses a 1/2″ thick 60+ Rockwell hard plate which is the absolute best in the industry. For the re-locker they use a Titan Dual re-locker with includes a brass arm and titan re-locker. Both of these are essential security features and included on this safe.

Security – Vault Pro AE-760 American Eagle 60 Gun Safe

In terms of security, the Vault Pro AE-760 American Eagle 60 Gun Safe is built like a tank. It far exceeds the UL RSC burglary requirements which ensures the safe can withstand an attack on the door with multiple different tools for a minimum of 5 minutes each. However, the safe wasn’t actually tested by UL and Vault Pro is just claiming that it would pass the test. Normally, I would look at this as a red flag but personally knowing Vault Pro and the high quality safes they produce, I can verify this would blow away the UL RSC test.

UL RSC Level I Burglary Requirements

For the security, Vault Pro used a 1/4″ steel plate on the door and 1/4″ steel in the body. Securing the door are 1.5″ thick locking bolts operating on a 3-Way Dual Cam Drive Active Bolt Locking System. Each bolt independently rotates 360 degrees. In addition, the Bolts lock behind a ¾” Protective Stepped Frame. The total door thickness is 5-1/2″ with the total door gap coming in at 1/16″. This gun safe is an absolute beast and very secure.

Fire Rating – Vault Pro AE-760 American Eagle 60 Gun Safe

The Vault Pro AE-760 American Eagle 60 Gun Safe features a 2 hour fire rating at 1880 degrees. This rating is not verified by an independent company like ETL or UL. However, the fire insulation system is excellent. They start with a 2300 degree fire blanket in the door and then add 4 layers of X-Rate fire board in the body. This safe will not only survive a fire but will keep your contents in pristine condition.

They also include dual Palusol door seals that expands to 7 times its size during a fire to keep smoke and heat from entering the safe. Palusol is the highest quality intumescent seal in the safe industry.
