Pistol Holsters Ranking Factors: Amount of Velcro, Compatibility, Construction Material, Warranty

Overview

There aren’t many options when choosing between pistol holsters for your Gun Safe. You’ll find 2 brands with extremely high quality, Stealth and Acorn, and 2 brands with extremely shit quality, EZ and CCW. As always, I recommend going with a trusted brand that has a proven track record of making quality products so if it’s not clear enough, here it is straight, buy from Stealth or Acorn.

Triple the Velcro of competitors, yea you read that right, triple the Velcro. The biggest complaint I hear over and over and over again with Velcro pistol holsters is that when the user comes back to their safe an hour later they find the gun on the bottom of the safe with scratches and instantly become extremely pissed off. Shit, I would too if my handgun just got scratched due to some piece of shit pistol holster. Stealth uses triple the Velcro to make sure that shit don’t happen. Most customer reviews experience having a hard time getting the holster off once they’ve attached it to the carpeting and that’s a damn good thing if you ask me.

The heavy duty version of Stealth’s holsters can fit literally any gun. I bought 3 and tested it with my desert eagle, smith & Wesson .500 and Marlin BFR (Yes I like Big Fucking Guns) and they all fit and stuck with no problem. The other options in this category don’t even come close to fitting handguns of that size so if that’s what you have, this is the only option. What’s also kick ass about this holster is that it adds a spandex side clip attachment that allows you to store an additional magazine with the handgun and it proves to be very convenient.

What really sets the Stealth apart is the construction quality. They use non-abrasive materials on the inside of the holster to protect the pistol from scratches.

You can’t beat a lifetime warranty, I doubt you would ever need to use it on a product like this but rest assured it’s there if you need it.

Made to the exact same size as the other cheaper pistol holsters on the market, Stealth beefed it up again by using double the Velcro of all other competitors. This has the same effect in terms of the stick and is significantly more reliable than other options.

Since it is made to a compact size, it is made for compact and sub-compact handguns. I would not recommend putting a Smith & Wesson .500 in this guy, think more like your Glock 19.

Stealth uses the same materials in the compact holster as the heavy duty holster with the exception of the spandex side magazine attachment. You are getting the same quality at a fraction of the price.

Stealth’s compact holsters also come with a lifetime warranty for a stress free purchase.

Considered the original pistol holster, Acorn has been around for a long time. They’ve never made any improvements to the product as they feel they got it right the first time and as we all know all too well, if it ain’t broke, don’t fucking fix it. Acorn uses the single stripe of Velcro which is clearly not as good as the Stealth options but still gets the job done. I have heard of customers complaining that it did not hold with their heavier guns so just a word of caution.

The Acorn holsters are the exact same size as the Stealth compact holsters making them ideal for compact and sub-compact handguns. Full size and XL pistols are not currently recommended.

Acorn also uses some pretty good quality materials with a nice soft interior and firm outer construction.

Acorn does not list any warranty information on their site nor have I ever heard of anyone contacting them with a warranty claim. As I stated previously, I really don’t see anyone needing to submit a warranty claim if these are used in their Gun Safe.
