Floor Safes are one of the most popular style of safes due to their concealed nature and high security rating. While they are not overly difficult to make being just steel with no fire rating, many companies don’t opt to make them as the sales volume is nowhere near gun safes and home safes. That’s why there are so few options in the category and even fewer high quality options. But don’t worry, I’ve tested all of these floor safes and compiled this list of the Top 3 Best Floor Safes that you can trust. All of these models have solid steel construction, high quality UL Rated locks, advanced security features and are sold by companies who actually honor their warranty.

Lock – Top 3 Best Floor Safes

First and always most important for any floor safe is the lock. All three of these floor safes from Stealth and American Security feature high quality UL Rated High Security Locks. UL stands for Underwriters Laboratories and they are an independent agency that certifies that the locks are both secure and high quality. I always recommend to purchase a UL rated lock and all three of these options are very high quality. American Security comes standard with a mechanical lock but also have the option to upgrade to a UL Rated type 1 High Security Lock. The lock can not be changed on the American Security C Series.

S&G Mechanical Lock – Stealth B Series and American Security B Series.

Included in the price of the Stealth and American Security B series floor safes is the S&G UL Type 2 Mechanical Lock. This is one of only two mechanical locks I recommend as it is high quality, reliable and known for longevity. It uses a three number combination that rotates into the lock body on the inside of the safe. This lock is designed to last for decades and features over 1 million possible combinations. You can’t go wrong with this lock, I highly recommend it.

UL Rated Mechanical Lock – American Security C Series

The AMSEC C3 Floor Safe has a very unique lock that is not used on any other safe. It’s a UL approved high security mechanical lock that operates without a turn handle. When you get to the last number on your combination, you push the dial in and rotate it to contract the locking bolts.

The dial itself is fully removable so after you are done using it, it can be stored in a place separate from the safe. The spindle is both drive and drill resistant and the entire mechanism is manipulation resistant. This is the most expensive and highest quality lock used on any floor safe in production.

Hard Plate and Re-Locker

All of these locks are also protected by both a hard plate and internal spring-loaded re-locker. The Hard plate is a piece of hardened steel that absolutely destroys drill bits. The internal re-locker fires if the lock is punched through securing the bolts in place. Both of these are essential security features and included on all of these Top 3 Best Floor Safes.

When it comes to security, all three models use similar methods. They all start with a thick piece of steel, 1/2″ on the Stealth, 3/4″ on the American Security B Series and 1-3/4″ overall on the American Security C Series. They then use the traditional round style solid steel locking bolts, 1″ thick. Floor safes are placed into concrete which eliminates attack points on 5 sides and only leaves the door open to attack. These are high quality, beefy steel doors that can withstand sophisticated burglary attacks.

All three models are finished in textured black paint with chrome hardware. Considering floor safes are meant to be hidden, the finish is not particularly important. Finally, both the Stealth and American Security B series include a metal dust cover plate while American Security C Series uses a plastic air tight lid with O ring seal that prevents water from entering into the locking area.

Warranty

Stealth provides a limited lifetime warranty covering burglary and attempted burglary. American Security includes a 1 year parts and labor warranty. They will pay for a safe technician repair the floor safe at no cost to you on site. Stealth doubles that parts and labor warranty to 2 years. Simply put, the longer the warranty, the more the company believes in the product and Stealth wins this category.

The Bottom Line

All three of these models are easily the Top 3 Best Floor Safes in the industry. While the American Security C series is a higher security level, I chose the Stealth B series as the best of the best for a couple reasons. They have a larger opening to get items in and out of the safe, a multitude of sizes, a lifetime warranty and double the parts and labor warranty. All in all, I recommend the Stealth made in USA B series floor safes as the best in category.
