“Love, Love, Love this safe! Have been looking for a safe this size for months, to hold a few things that I didn’t want to have unsecured, out in the open. The name brands were expensive and extremely heavy. Anything at the $300 price point was just too small. Decided to take a chance on this TIGERKING safe and I am so glad that I did! It is well made and easy to use. There was a lot of attention to detail in the design of this safe that I wasn’t finding with many of the well-established brands.”

JayCee from Amazon.com

The TigerKing 63XH-1(B) Safe appears to be a decently secure safe with a good amount of features. It is definitely more of a lock box than a full blown safe but those terms are definitely interchangeable when it comes to Amazon. TigerKing is a fully Chinese owned and operated company with the real business name listed in Amazon as shen zhen shi zhe yu xu mao yi you xian gong si. Yea, try saying that five times fast. TigerKing is one of the biggest manufacturers in China and on Amazon they sell low end fire and burglary safes with low quality locks. In this review, I will help you understand how the TigerKing 63XH-1(B) Safe is actually a pretty good burglary resistant lock box for the price.

Lock

First and most important for any safe is its lock and the TigerKing 63XH-1(B) Safe uses a very interesting and unique lock not found on many safes. It’s a push button electronic lock with the master key also required to open. This is a nice security feature that prevents someone from gaining access to your safe even if they have the electronic code. Without this master key, I would not recommend this safe at all, but when used in unison, this safe actually becomes decently secure. This feature is actually considered a high security option available on TL Rated safes built from American Security and is called an Auxiliary key.

Security

When it comes to security, the TigerKing 63XH-1(B) Safe is said to be equipped with highly durable, thick steel material however they don’t list the actual body thickness. Considering it weighs 70 lbs, I would estimate the actual thickness between 14 and 12 gauge steel. The door features a 5 mm steel plate which is equivalent to .2 inches. Add in the three-way locking bolts with internal hinge and you have a very pry-resistant safe for its size. The safe also comes with an alarm system that activates after three incorrect code entries or vibration. The safe also features an internal lock box and hidden compartment once inside the safe that add an additional layer of secrecy.

Style and Function

This model, the TigerKing 63XH-1(B) Safe is finished in textured black with a brass keypad that features brass trim along with a brass square handle. The inside is a carpeted beige with a standard shelf. Overall, the styling on this safe is very nice and would look great inside your home. It also features an internal LED light to brighten up the interior once the door opens.

The Bottom Line

Overall, the TigerKing 63XH-1(B) Safe is a pretty secure home safe that requires the electronic lock to be used in conjunction with the master key. It is much more secure than similar safes in the price range but is still not the best option at this size. Personally, I would still recommend something with a UL rated high security electronic lock such as the Stealth B1414 burglary safe for this type of application. Yes, it’s more expensive, but security is not something you want to be cheap on as your priceless valuables are worth more than saving a couple dollars.
