Stealth WSHD1414 Wall Safe Review

Altogether, the Stealth WSHD1414 Wall Safe is very high quality, loaded with security features and made right here in the USA. It’s my top pick in the wall safe category and in this review, I’ll explain exactly why.

Lock – Stealth WSHD1414 Wall Safe

First and always most important for any floor safe is the lock. Stealth offers two different lock options on the WSHD1414 Wall Safe depending on your preference.

UL Approved High Security Electronic Lock – NL UR-2020

First is the super reliable and high quality NL UR-2020 electronic lock. This lock is UL approved as type 1 which is the highest security rating possible. NL is one of the three major lock brands I recommend with SecuRam and S&G being the other two. I highly recommend this lock and it is very high quality. The parts are globally sourced with the electronic boards and lock body produced in Europe and the keypads coming from Korea.

UL Approved High Security Mechanical Lock – S&G

The second lock option is the classic S&G Type 2 UL Approved Mechanical Lock. S&G is the oldest and most reputable lock company in the United States. This three number combination lock is built to last forever and is known for its longevity and reliability.

Both of these lock options are excellent choices and it really comes down to your preference. Wall safes are typically meant to be hidden and not accessed as much as traditional gun and home safes. With that in mind, it may be more convenient to use a Mechanical Lock in this application to avoid having to replace any batteries.

Hard Plate and Re-Locker

Either lock option is also protected by both a hard plate and internal spring-loaded re-locker. The Hard plate is a piece of hardened steel that absolutely destroys drill bits. The internal re-locker fires if the lock is punched through, securing the bolts in place. Both of these are essential security features and included on this safe.

Security – Stealth WSHD1414 Wall Safe

The Stealth WSHD1414 Wall Safe is equipped with a massive 1/2″ thick solid steel door. The body and frame are built with 12 gauge steel and four pre-punched holes are included on the sides for mounting into the wall, in-between the studs.

Behind the 1/2″ steel door are three 1″ solid steel locking bolts that contract from the chrome handle and a bolt detent fires them automatically once the door closes so you never have to remember if you locked the safe, it’s just automatic. The safe door operates on external cast iron hinges and a heavy duty steel dead bar locks beneath that hinge. This is an extremely strong wall safe and very difficult to break into.

Style and Function

What’s unique to this wall safe and a handful of others is that it is 10″ deep. It’s very important to make sure your wall can accommodate this extra depth as the traditional wall safe is roughly 4″ deep. Next, the Stealth wall safe is finished in a very nice textured black that is so much better than the traditional powder coat used on imported safes. The interior features both a carpeted shelf and bottom. The shelf is removable but not adjustable. Finally, hardware includes a brushed nickel L Shaped handle and black keypad or dial. All in all, this wall safe is styled very impressively and designed to last decades.

Warranty

All Stealth Wall Safes are covered by a 5 year warranty on the hinges and welds. In addition, they also provide a 2 parts and labor warranty on the lock and all other components. Stealth will pay for a safe technician or locksmith to come out to your home or business and repair the safe. If the safe needs to be replaced, they pay for all shipping costs and do not require you to ship the safe back to their warehouse. All in all, they are by far the easiest and most customer centric company I’ve worked with. I highly recommend them for both service and warranty.
