Stealth CS20 Concrete Composite Safe Review

Stealth Safes has been manufacturing high quality safes for nearly a decade now. They are based out of Los Angeles, California and like many manufacturers import globally and produce in the USA. They are by far the most customer centric company listening to the actual needs and producing safes that perfectly fit those needs at unbelievable prices. Altogether, the Stealth CS20 Concrete Composite Safe is a very high quality home safe loaded with security features and a solid 90 minute fire rating.

Lock – Stealth CS20 Concrete Composite Safe

NL UR-2020 High Security Electronic Lock

First and always most important for any safe is the lock and Stealth went with the best, the NL UR-2020. This is a UL approved type 1 high security electronic lock and very high quality. If you go back and read any of my reviews, you’ll see I constantly tell everyone that a UL rated lock should be the minimum you look for and the best brands are NL, S&G and Securam.

What makes this lock so great is the engineering behind it. It is actually half the size of a traditional lock which allows it to be hidden away from the spindle hole and creates a smaller and more difficult point to hit during a drill attack. It also features over 1 million possible combinations and the keypad includes a red light that makes it easy to see in the dark. The 9 volt battery is replaceable from the keypad, outside of the safe.

S&G High Security Mechanical Lock

The second lock option available is the S&G mechanical lock. This is a UL Approved Type 2 high security lock which is one level below Type 1 electronic locks. S&G makes the highest quality mechanical locks in the industry trusted by the U.S. Military. This lock is designed to last forever and uses the traditional 3 number combination with 1 million possible combinations. Many people like this lock purely due to the fact that it has no batteries. NL Doomsday High Security Redundant Lock

The final lock option available is the NL Doomsday Redundant Lock. This lock is UL approved type 1 high security but features both electronic and mechanical access. The top of the lock features a 10 button keypad that has the same security level and features as a standard electronic lock but then combines it with a mechanical dial in the center of the lock. This effectively gives you the best of both world, convenient fast access when you need it via the electronic lock and a mechanical back-up for emergencies. I highly recommend this upgrade. Hard Plate and Internal Re-Locker

All three lock options are protected by both a hard plate and internal spring-loaded re-locker. The Hard plate is a piece of hardened steel that absolutely destroys drill bits. In addition, the internal re-locker fires if the lock is punched through securing the bolts in place. Both of these are essential security features and included on this safe.

Security – Stealth CS20 Concrete Composite Safe

The Stealth CS20 Concrete Composite Safe exceeds the CA DOJ Gun Safe standards but has not been tested for the UL RSC Burglary Rating. This safe would easily pass and is built similar to TL-15 security construction. Stealth uses two 1/8″ steel plates and a high strength concrete composite fill in the middle. This concrete composite material offers excellent burglary protection and is extremely difficult to drill.

Competing home safes from Liberty, Rhino and Cannon only use gypsum fire board and one layer of steel. This safe is built to the same construction standards as the American Security BF and CSC series. These three series are a massive level up from one layer of steel and offer real security.

The overall thickness for the door is 4-1/2″ and includes four 1.25″ solid steel locking bolts. The body measures 2-1/4″ thick on all five sides. That is extremely thick and extremely difficult to drill.

Fire Rating – Stealth CS20 Concrete Composite Safe

The Stealth CS series comes with a 90 minute fire rating at 1200 degrees. This is over three times the length of the standard house fire and this safe will hold up incredibly well. The concrete composite insulation performs significantly better than gypsum fire board in real world fires as proved by the tests conducted by American Security. Finally, Stealth is based out of California where wild fires run rampant, their safes have been through tons of fires and survived successfully, so the proof is in the pudding.

Also included is an intumescent door seal that expands up to 7 times its size during a fire to keep smoke and heat from entering the safe. Once expanded it also provides water resistance from the fire hoses putting the fire out.

Style and Function – Stealth CS20 Concrete Composite Safe

The Stealth Concrete Composite series is finished in the Stealth Armored Black Paint. This paint job is the best in the industry, extremely durable and looks incredible. Hardware includes a chrome L shaped drop down handle, chrome keypad and fascia plate. Finally, inside the safe you’ll find an adjustable or removable gray shelf with gray door panel. This safe is styled extremely well and will look great in any environment.

Warranty

The Stealth CS series comes with a lifetime warranty for burglary, attempted burglary and house fires. Also provided is a 2 year parts and labor warranty that covers all components of the safe. Stealth will pay for a safe technician or locksmith to come out to your home or business and repair the safe. If the safe needs to be replaced, they pay for all shipping costs and do not require you to ship the safe back to their warehouse. All in all, they are by far the easiest and most customer centric company I’ve worked with. I highly recommend them for both service and warranty.

The Bottom Line

Would I buy the Stealth CS20 Concrete Composite Safe to store my valuables? Yes, I absolutely would. This is one of the highest quality and most affordable home safes available. With a UL Rated high security electronic lock, concrete composite construction, 90 minute fire rating and unbelievable price, this home safe is hard to beat.
