SnapSafe made their claim to fame with their modular gun safes that you put together after you receive it. They have since ventured into wall safes, handgun safes and under the bed safes. Unfortunately, these products are lackluster quality. In this review, I will help you understand why the SnapSafe In-Wall Long Safe 75411 is a product you should definitely avoid.

Lock – SnapSafe In-Wall Long Safe 75411

First and always most important on any safe is the lock. SnapSafe used a Solenoid electronic lock with key override. These are the most common types of electronic locks coming out of China because they are cheap. However, they lack the most basic functions of security and can be opened far too easily. They have no security rating, no testing whatsoever and are not reliable long term.

However, this is not the main issue with the safe. The fatal flaw is the key override. In an attempt to save some money and have a lower price, they went with a tubular override key. These locks can be opened with BIC pens just by inserting and twisting. There are also numerous tubular lock picks available on Amazon that pick these locks in seconds.

Security

The SnapSafe In-Wall Long Safe 75411 has 16 gauge steel construction with only two locking bolts that appear to be around 3/4″ thick. This is not particularly strong and could be bent with a screwdriver and hammer. 16 gauge steel is the thickness of a penny and is fine for the body construction as it sits behind the wall but since the door is the only access point, it should be much thicker.

SnapSafe In-Wall Long Safe 75411 Security

Security is clearly not the focal point of this wall safe with the vulnerabilities in the lock, so if you need this as a very short term anti-theft lock box, it will do fine but as a security safe, it won’t stand up to any real attempt at getting it open. I recommend at least a 3/8″ thick door with 1/2″ being the ideal starting point.

Style and Function

This is definitely where the SnapSafe In-Wall Long Safe 75411 stands out from the other low-end imported wall safes. Once inside the safe, it has a false bottom where you can hide additional items, magnetic jewelry hooks that also double for keys, two removable shelves and a document holder for the shelf.

It comes standard with what would seem like basic accessories every wall safe should have. It’s finished in a powder coat textured black and brushed nickel handle. The door sits completely flush with the outer flange making it super easy to hang a picture frame over it.

Warranty

SnapSafe advertises all of their safes to have a no risk Lifetime Warranty. However, when you read the fine print, the lifetime warranty only covers material defects and workmanship. It is very unclear if that includes the electronic components. SnapSafe is owned by Hornady and Hornady explicitly states that their warranty does not cover the electronics and that portion is only covered for 1 year. I would expect SnapSafe to have the same policy despite it not being clearly outlined in their warranty information. Finally, it is also unclear who pays for shipping or if they will cover a technician to come to your home. Always read the fine print.

The Bottom Line

The SnapSafe In-Wall Long Safe 75411 is not very secure compared to brands like American Security, V-Line and Stealth. However, it is a better product than the other low end wall safes from Mesa and Barska. It has additional storage features not found on other wall safes and is backed by a lifetime warranty from a reputable company. As long as you know what you are buying with this product, it will serve it’s purpose well but overall this is not a product I would recommend for security.
