“I got this case because I have a 1 year old that is getting into everything so it was a must. The case is sturdy it’s a little on the heavy side but I actually like that, it have the cushion to protect and keep the weapon safe and in place. I would definitely recommend this case I feel this is a good inexpensive case for a gun carrier.”

RPNB is a company that really has me mixed on my feelings toward them. They took over Amazon by storm releasing handgun safe after handgun safe and any time a bad review has come out showing how to break into their product, they quickly fix it and release an updated version. They are a fully Chinese owned company going factory direct to Amazon and the prices on their products are unbeatable. While they don’t sell high security products like the Stealth ShadowVault, I’m a big believer in knowing what you are buying and why. Not everyone needs or wants a top of the line product, and compared to a lot of the other Chinese junk on Amazon, RPNB is actually doing a a decent job and in this review, I’ll explain why the RPNB Security Safe Lock Box is actually a decent handgun safe for the price.
Lock
First and always most important for any safe is its lock. What I really like about this pistol safe is that they used a good quality key lock. It’s a higher security laser cut key that is extremely difficult if not impossible to pick. It is so much better than the tubular or dimpled key override options used on comparable safes from Hornady, SnapSafe and AmazonBasics.
Security
When it comes to the security of the RPNB Security Safe Lock Box, we once again need to remember what we are buying. This is a 16 gauge steel portable travel case, it’s great for a car, backpack or anywhere you need quick access and portability. This is not a super secure gun safe or handgun safe, it’s an anti-theft lockbox. I do wish RPNB would advertise this correctly and not say things like: “seamlessly welded pry-proof steel body for the ultimate prevention against break-ins and the unique hinge design holds the top lid open”. By no means is this handgun safe pry-proof and in fact it could be opened in about 30 seconds with proper tools. For an anti-theft lock box, I think it will do a decent job at keeping kids and the average teenager out.
Style and Function
The finish on the RPNB Security Safe Lock Box is actually a very nice black rocky finish similar to what’s used on the GunVault products. This is a high quality and durable paint job that I think looks very good. The design on their keypad is also a stylish V-Shaped cover and the interior is fully lined with foam on the top and bottom to protect your handgun from scratches. Overall, this is a nice finish and style for such a low cost pistol safe. It also includes a security cable that allows you to attach the item to a fixed object such as a car seat.
The Bottom Line
For being one of the lowest cost anti-theft lock boxes available on Amazon, the RPNB Security Safe Lock Box is my top pick for that specific category. It by no means should be considered a high strength gun safe but it is extremely portable and decently secure. When compared to the AmazonBasics, Hornady or SnapSafe lock boxes that use RFID, tubular override keys or single straight keys, this is really a significant better option. Personally, I wouldn’t trust my handgun to anything less than options like the V-Line Brute, Fort Knox Original or Stealth ShadowVault but if you really need a lightweight, portable anti-theft lock box, this is the one I would recommend.
