“Shoddy Work. Received this Paragon 7501 Safe today. Opened box and got safe set up, but when I went to use the key to open it for the first time, I noticed that the metal around the insertion point on the left side was torn as shown in the photo. The other problem was the door was misaligned and you could actually see inside the safe, particularly at the bottom. Note the felt pad that the door is supposed to rest against at bottom of the photo. This was shoddy work since there was no evidence of any major damage to the shipping carton.”

Ken from Amazon.com

Paragon Safe company is another fly by night operation on Amazon selling low quality products at what seems like a great price. Just hit most recent on any of the reviews of their products and you will see what seem like a never ending list of 1 star reviews all with similar complaints. The lock stopped working, it was broken into in seconds and it came completely destroyed are just some of the numerous bad reviews. The Paragon 7501 Gun Safe is a low quality product that I strongly recommend you stay as far away from possible and in this review, I will detail exactly why.

Lock

The lock used on the Paragon 7501 Gun Safe is not UL Rated and not even motorized. It’s the lowest quality Solenoid style lock you can use and you can open it with literally anything just by banging the top of the safe and turning the handle. This is called the bump method and you can even check on Youtube, How to Open a Safe with a Potato to watch this exact style lock be bumped open with yes, a potato. Remember, the lock is always the most important part of any safe and this is quite literally the lowest quality lock in existence that will stop working. Also used on this “safe” is a tubular override key that can be opened with a BIC pen and there are numerous videos on Youtube showing just how easy it is.

Security

When it comes to the security of the Paragon 7501 Gun Safe, there isn’t much to brag about. They list it as 18 gauge solid steel which is the thinnest steel possible, just knock on it with your fist and you’re likely to dent it. Especially as nearly every user who had this broken into in the reviews shows the safe got cut open like butter. The door looks thin enough to be able to pry open with only a screwdriver and they don’t even list the thickness of the bolts which look around 1/2″ in the picture.

Function

The Paragon 7501 Gun Safe is finished in textured black with a chrome keypad. I guess the one plus for this safe is they include a carpeted bottom and foam gun rack so that when a thief is able to easily break-in, the contents will be sitting on a nice gray piece of carpet for them.

The Bottom Line

If you can’t tell by my analysis so far, this Paragon 7501 Gun Safe is absolutely something I would not recommend. There are significantly better options available in the Stealth EGS14, Liberty Centurion 12 and American Security TF5517 Gun Safes. Yes they are quite a bit more expensive but when it comes to security, this is one area you don’t want to be cheap. The Paragon can be broken into in less than 5 seconds and you wouldn’t want to trust your hard earned dollars or sensitive information to a complete POS like this.
