Liberty safe is the #1 seller of gun safes in the USA and there is a huge reason why. They implement the highest quality standards on every single gun safe. I have so much respect for Liberty Safe and the team running it. In these Liberty Home Safe Reviews I’ll explain why they are a secure and reliable product, but overpriced for what you get.
Lock – Liberty Home Safe Reviews
First and always most important for any safe is its lock. The Liberty Home Safe comes standard with the SecuRam Prologic high security electronic lock. SecuRam is a long standing and very reliable brand and one of the three major lock companies I recommend with the other two being NL and S&G.
The ProLogic is a huge upgrade from the TopLit and Backlit models, however I find it a bit unnecessary for a home safe of this security level. It has commercial features like multiple user codes, time delay and audit trail capacity. For a standard home safe, the Backlit keypad would have been more than enough. The reason I bring this up is because it increases the cost of the safe adding features 99% of homeowners will never use.
Security – Liberty Home Safe Reviews
The LibertyHome Safe is built to standard UL RSC gun safe construction with one layer of steel and multiple layers of gypsum fire board, however it is not UL RSC approved. It features a 10 gauge steel door and body with their patented military style locking bars. This design is far superior the traditional round bolts as it has a larger surface area.
It exceeds the CA DOJ Gun Safe requirements and overall is significantly more secure than most safes. Finally, a drill-bit destroying three layer hard plate is placed in-between the steel door and internal lock body. A dual re-locker keeps the bolts in place if the burglar attempts to punch through the lock.
I would expect it to be thicker than one layer of 10 gauge steel for the price. The American Security BF series is built with concrete composite in-between two layers of steel and a 1/2″ plate door for nearly the same price. This offers significantly more burglary resistance against both drilling and saw attacks.
Fire Rating – Liberty Home Safe Reviews
The Liberty Home Safe comes with a 2 hour fire rating at 1200 degrees. They also use genuine Palusol Fire seals which are the highest quality seals. They expand to 7 times their size during a fire to keep smoke and heat out.
Keep in mind, this is a factory test and not certified by an independent testing agency like ETL. Liberty safes have endured tons of real world fires with amazing success stories so the proof is in the pudding.
Style and Function
The Liberty Home Safe comes in a variety of color options and finishes including marble and high gloss. This model does come with a door panel organizer, two shelves, velvet lined jewelry drawer and electrical outlet included.
Warranty
Liberty Safe offers a lifetime warranty against break-in, attempted break-in and fire in addition to a 5 year parts and labor warranty on all components of the safe. This is actually one of the best warranties in the industry and Liberty is a very reliable company. They will take care of you if something goes wrong. They are the #1 seller of gun safes in the United States for a reason.
The Bottom Line
Would I buy the Liberty Home Safe for my firearms and valuables. Yes, I definitely would as it is a good quality safe and made in the USA. With that said, it doesn’t change the fact that it is seriously overpriced. The ProLogic lock is unnecessary and with only 10 gauge steel, there are way better options for an equivalent price.
The American Security BF home safes are also made in USA like the Liberty but have the UL RSC burglary rating with a 1/2″ steel plate door, two layers of steel in the body that contain a concrete composite material, UL High security electronic lock and 2 hours of fire protection verified by ETL. In my opinion, concrete composite and verified fire rating make the AMSEC BF home safes far superior.
Most companies in the safe industry don’t keep Liberty home safes in stock. They end up having to order them from Liberty, have them shipped to their warehouse, then shipped out to you. This adds a significant amount of time from when you order the product to when you actually receive it. That’s why I’ve partnered with Dean Safe company. They have the largest supply of in-stock Liberty Home Safes in the industry. All of their product pages will tell you which models are available as In-Stock and able to ship same business day. You can see all of the available In-Stock Liberty Home Safes Here.
