Hayman is most well known for their innovative floor safes in the safe industry. They made an innovative, lightweight foam body that is just as strong in concrete. Since then, they’ve moved into home safes with moderate success. In these Hayman Home Safe Reviews, I will explain why the DynaVault and MagnaVault home safes are a great quality product, affordable and one of the top options in the home safe category.
Lock – Hayman Home Safe Reviews
UL Approved High Security Electronic Lock
Included in the price of the MagnaVault is is the SecuRam UL approved high security electronic lock. This is an excellent quality lock made by a longstanding and reputable company. SecuRam is the exclusive partner of Liberty Safe, has a premier reputation and makes very high quality locks. UL Approved type 1 is the highest security rating available.
S&G UL Approved Type 2 High Security Mechanical Lock
There is also a second lock option that is the S&G UL Type 2 Mechanical Lock. This lock is included on the DynaVault. This is one of only two mechanical locks I recommend as it is high quality, reliable and known for longevity. It uses a three number combination that rotates into the lock body on the inside of the safe.
Security – Hayman Home Safe Reviews
The Hayman Home Safes are absolute beasts when it comes to security. It’s tested and approved by UL as a Residential Security Container RSC. While this is the standard burglary rating for gun safes, it is built so much stronger than your standard 12 gauge gun safe.
The body of the MagnaVault has a concrete composite fill encased between two steel plates totaling 2″ thick. This is the same construction as the American Security BF series and incredibly strong. The door is built 4-1/2″ thick with the same concrete composite construction but then adds 1-1/8″ solid steel bolts with a continuous dead bolt locking along the entire hinge side.
The DynaVault features an 11 gauge body with 1/4″ plate door and 1-14″ thick locking bolts.
Finally, the lock on the MagnaVault is protected by five 1/4″ hard plates installed at different angles that makes drilling this near impossible. There are multiple tempered glass relocking devices that secure the bolts when shattered. This is a very high security home safe for only an RSC rating. The DynaVault features the standard internal re-locker.
Fire Rating – Hayman Home Safe Reviews
Hayman didn’t stop at just a great quality lock and security features. They also added up to 110 minutes of fire protection at 1275 degrees. Hayman uses the concrete composite insulation material to achieve this fire rating. It is also tested and verified by Fire Insurance Laboratories, an independent agency. Finally, Hayman added an intumescent door seal that expands to 7 times its size during a fire to keep smoke and heat from entering the safe.
Style and Function
These Hayman MagnaVault home safes are finished with a 7 step application that finishes with a clear coat and designed to last for decades. The color is a speckled gray and hardware includes a chrome tri-spoke handle with chrome keypad. The interior has no carpeting and is all metal. Inside you’ll find two adjustable or removable 1/2″ tempered glass shelf. Finally, two bolt down holes are included for mounting to a concrete surface. The DynaVault features a gorgeous off-white finish with fully carpeted interior.
Warranty
The Hayman MagnaVault and DynaVault home safes come with a lifetime warranty on both burglary and fire. They will repair or replace the safe, however you have to ship them the safe with a copy of the police report. This will cost you several hundred dollars and is not consistent with the lifetime warranties offered by competing companies. Nearly every other manufacturer will only require the police or fire report and do not need you to ship them the damaged, unusable safe. I am not a fan of this warranty at all. Always read the fine print.
The Bottom Line
Would I buy the Hayman MagnaVault or DynaVault Home Safes to protect my valuables? Overall, yes I absolutely would. They have a reliable UL rated high security lock, UL RSC burglary rating, up to 110 minute independently verified fire rating and impressive styling. The big issue I have with this is the Lifetime warranty requiring shipping the damaged safe. Hopefully, that issue never happens but it is still annoying.
With that said, it’s not my top pick in the category. The American Security BF Home Safes feature a thicker 1/2″ steel plate door, thicker steel plates in the body, a much more attractive finish with multiple color options and is made by a reputable and long standing American company. I would recommend buying an American Security BF home safe instead of this.
