Lock – American Security C7 Floor Safe

First and always most important is the lock and the AMSEC C7 Floor Safe has a very unique lock that is not used on any other safe. It’s a UL approved high security mechanical lock that operates without a turn handle. When you get to the last number on your combination, you push the dial in and rotate it to contract the locking bolts.

The dial itself is fully removable so after you are done using it, it can be stored in a place separate from the safe. The spindle is both drive and drill resistant and the entire mechanism is manipulation resistant. This is the most expensive and highest quality lock used on any floor safe in production.

Security – American Security C7 Floor Safe

When it comes to floor safes, 5 out of 6 sides are encased in concrete. This requires a jackhammer to completely remove the safe out of the ground. That leaves the only penetrable part of the safe in the door and this is by far the strongest component of the American Security C7 Floor Safe.

This safe is C-Rated and the total door thickness measures 1-3/4″. Also included are three locking bolts that extend out the side. Each of them requires over 25,000 lbs to shear. Each locking bolt has its own hardened steel positive re-locking bolt and because the entire door is round, it’s impossible to get a crowbar or any tools into the sides for prying.

Style and Function

If properly installed in concrete, floor safes are not affected by fire as heat rises. If you have perishable items, it is still advised to purchase a fire rated home or gun safe. However, for burglary protection only, floor safes are the most secure option.

The AMSEC C7 Floor Safe includes a water resistant dust cover with an 0 ring seal that makes the top air tight. I would still recommend placing your items in waterproof bags or ziplock compartments for additional water protection, especially cash. Once everything is in the safe, you can cover it with a floorboard, rug or carpet.

Conclusion

Would I buy the American Security C7 Floor Safe to protect my valuables? Yes, 100% I absolutely would. With the round door design, high security UL Rated mechanical lock and being made in USA, this is the highest security floor safe available.

With that said, this round door design and limited depth provide very little usable space inside the safe body. If you need additional space, I would recommend checking out the American Security Brute Floor Safes or Hayman Floor Safes with doors up to 1-1/2″ thick and a square design.
