Liberty Beast Vault Door Review

Liberty safe is the #1 seller of gun safes in the USA and there is a huge reason why. They implement the highest quality standards on every single gun safe. I have so much respect for Liberty Safe and the team running it. The Liberty Beast Vault Door is a top of the line vault door with military style locking bars and thick steel construction. While this is a secure and reliable product, I find it very overpriced for what you get. Allow me to explain why.

Lock – Liberty Beast Vault Door

S&G UL Rated High Security Mechanical Lock

First and always most important is the lock. Included in the price is the S&G UL Type 2 Mechanical Lock. This is one of only two mechanical locks I recommend as it is high quality, reliable and known for longevity. It uses a three number combination that rotates into the lock body on the inside of the safe. This lock is designed to last for decades and features over 1 million possible combinations.

SecuRam ProLogic UL Rated High Security Electronic Lock

You an also upgrade the lock to the SecuRam UL Rated ProLogic high security electronic lock. SecuRam is a long standing and very reliable brand and one of the three major lock companies I recommend with the other two being NL and S&G. The ProLogic keypad is the top of the line lock they offer because it is full stainless steel construction compared to the ABS plastic and includes additional features like time delay, multi-user mode and audit trail capability.

They also vastly improved the way the 9 volt battery goes in and out by utilizing an interlocking plastic tray. Now you don’t have to slide the entire keypad up to change the battery, it’s a way better design. This lock features a 6 digit electronic code that is easy to program to your own custom combination. The lock opens 10,000+ times on just one battery.

Security – Liberty Beast Vault Door

The Liberty Beast Vault Door is built with a 12 gauge composite steel door, 1/4″ inner steel liner and 7 gauge steel frame with eighteen of their patented military style locking bars, 1/2″ thick. This design is far superior the traditional round bolts as it has a larger surface area. In total, it weights 1,245 lbs which is nearly three times heavier than most of its competitors.

Finally, a drill-bit destroying ball bearing hard plate is placed in-between the steel door and internal lock body. A dual re-locker keeps the bolts in place if the burglar attempts to punch through the lock.

I would expect it to be thicker than one layer of 12 gauge steel and a 1/4″ inner liner for the price. The American Security BFQ Vault Doors is built with concrete composite in-between two layers of steel with the outer being 1/2″ for 1.5k less. This offers significantly more burglary resistance against both drilling and saw attacks.

Fire Rating – Liberty Beast Vault Door

The Liberty Beast Vault Door comes does not have an official fire rating similar to most vault doors but includes four layers of 1/2″ fireboard and when combined with concrete on all other sides would be equivalent to their presidential series which holds a 2.5 hour fire rating. They also use genuine Palusol Fire seals which are the highest quality seals. They expand to 7 times their size during a fire to keep smoke and heat out.

Style and Function

The Liberty Beast Vault Door comes in a variety of color options and finishes including textured, marble and high gloss. Hardware includes a 5-spoke handle and finial pull handle on the outside along with an internal 3-spoke handle for the internal release.

This vault door can be built to either right hand swing or left hand swing as well as in-swing or out-swing.

Warranty

Liberty believes and stands behind their vault door by offering a lifetime warranty against defects in materials and workmanship in addition to a lifetime warranty against break-in, attempted break-in and fire. Next, they offer a 5 year warranty on all locks and they will send a technician out to your home for repair at no cost to you. They are a very easy company to work with and are reliable and trustworthy. This is a warranty you can trust.

The Bottom Line

Would I buy the Liberty Beast Vault Door to protect my firearms and valuables. Yes, I definitely would as it has thick steel construction, military style locking bars, approximately 2.5 hours of fire protection and is made in USA.

With that said, I do find them overpriced compared to the American Security BFQ Vault Doors. The reason I like the American Security Vault doors better is that they include a 1/2″ steel plate door with an inner steel liner and concrete composite material in-between. This concrete composite material offers significantly better fire and burglary protection than any other vault doors available.
