Hollon has been one of the fastest growing safe companies in the United States over the last decade. They have a full product lineup ranging from residential to commercial. While they don’t actually manufacture anything themselves, they do bring in a lot of different high quality products. In this Hollon Floor Safe Reviews, I will explain why they are a great option in the floor safe category.
Lock – Hollon Floor Safe Reviews
UL Approved High Security Mechanical Lock – S&G
First and always most important for any floor safe is the lock. Hollon offers the classic S&G Type 2 UL Approved high security Mechanical Lock. S&G is the oldest and most reputable lock company in the United States. This three number combination lock is built to last forever and is known for its longevity and reliability.
Hard Plate and Re-Locker
This mechanical lock is also protected by both a hard plate and internal spring-loaded re-locker. The Hard plate is a piece of hardened steel that absolutely destroys drill bits. The internal re-locker fires if the lock is punched through securing the bolts in place. Both of these are essential security features and included on this safe.
Security – Hollon Floor Safe Reviews
The Hollon Floor Safe is equipped with a massive 1/2″ thick solid steel door. Considering 5 out of 6 sides of a floor safe are encased in concrete, the door is the only access point and with this thick of steel, it will take a considerable amount of time to break in. Despite this, Hollon still included a 1/4″ steel body which is extremely thick.
Beneath the door are five 1″ solid steel locking bolts that contract from the chrome handle. The safe operates with an internal hinge and a heavy duty steel deadbar locks beneath that hinge. All in all, this is an extremely strong floor safe and very difficult to break into.
Style and Function
If properly installed in concrete, floor safes are not affected by fire as heat rises. If you have perishable items, it is still advised to purchase a fire rated home or gun safe. In regards to burglary protection only, floor safes are the most secure option. I also recommend placing your items in waterproof bags or ziplock compartments for additional water protection, especially cash.
Once everything is in the safe, you can cover it with a floorboard, rug or carpet to make it completely hidden and a steel plate dust cover is included to make it flush with the floor.
Warranty
All Hollon Floor Safes are covered by a 1 year parts and labor warranty on the lock and all other components. Hollon will pay for a safe technician or locksmith to come out to your home or business and repair the safe. Finally, if the safe needs to be replaced, they pay for all shipping costs and do not require you to ship the safe back to their warehouse.
The Bottom Line
Would I buy a Hollon Floor Safe to protect my valuables? Yes, I absolutely would. With a UL Rated high security mechanical lock, 1/2″ thick solid steel door and advanced security features, these Hollon floor safes are a great option in the floor safe category.
With that said, the Stealth Floor Safes are even better. They are made in USA and include a gas piston to keep the door open along with a bolt detent that fires the bolts automatically. All things considered, I would recommend buying a Stealth floor safe instead of this.
