Remington Nitro 46 Gun Safe Review

As one of the oldest and most well known gun manufacturers in the United States and new for 2022, Remington has now partnered up with SA Consumer Products to make Gun Safes. SA Consumer Products makes the Sports Afield and Sanctuary safe lines. I do not like the Solenoid lock used on Sports Afield products. However, they made the Remington safe line incredibly well. They took all the positive features of the Sports Afield safes like no sag shelves, 7 days of water resistance and the full coverage lifetime warranty and combined it with a high quality UL rated SecuRam lock. I highly recommend the Remington Nitro 46 Gun Safe and in this review I will help you understand all of the features that make it one of the best on the market.

Lock – Remington Nitro 46 Gun Safe

The Remington Nitro 46 Gun Safe includes the SecuRam Basic UL approved high security electronic lock. It is one of the highest quality lock brands on the market. This SecuRam lock is the exclusive partner of Liberty Safe and trusted by all of the major safe brands. Additionally, the batteries are replaceable from the keypad outside the safe and it uses one 9 Volt Battery. This is a very good quality lock and covered by the Remington Lifetime Warranty.

Security – Remington Nitro 46 Gun Safe

The Remington Nitro 46 gun safe is built tough for only being a California DOJ Approved Gun Safe. It has a 11 gauge steel door and body with fourteen 1.75″ thick solid steel locking bolts. Additional security features include a drill-resistant hard plate protecting the lock and an internal re-locker that fires to keep the bolts locked in place during a drill attack.

Fire and Water Rated – Remington Nitro 46 Gun Safe

Fire Rating

The Remington Nitro Gun Safes are both fire and water rated which is not common on gun safes. The fire rating is for 90 minutes at 1800 degrees which is 600 degrees hotter than the standard 1200 degree rating. It also includes an intumescent door seal. This seal expands to multiple times its size during a fire to keep smoke and heat out of the safe.

Water Rating

The water seal is rated for 7 days in up to 2 feet of standing water. This safe measures over 5′ tall so that does not include the lock which sits at about 4′. Floods don’t typically get that high so it is a great option. Remington is now the only brand that offers a quality waterproof gun safe. Lastly, the lifetime warranty also covers fire and natural flood.

Style and Function

Styled incredibly well, the Remington Nitro 46 Gun Safe has it all. The Graphite Satin Metallic Seltzer Gray Gloss powder coat is both durable and sleek. It has a chrome 5-spoke handle with carbon fiber accents, Remington logo and full metal keypad. The interior is fully carpeted with the shelving and barrel rests finished with an embroidered vinyl trim. Next, the door panel organizer is finished in vinyl. In addition, the shelves have zero sag and the interior lights up with the included light kit. Lastly, they include a UL rated dual power outlet with USB ports. They thought about every last detail and made a superior quality product built to last.

The Bottom Line

These brand new Remington Gun Safes are going to be a huge seller in the safe industry.
